Dr Maurice O’Farrell
Dr Maurice O’Farrell is a practicing GP accredited in weight management and a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners. He is the founder and clinical lead of the Medication Weight Loss Clinic.
Dr O’Farrell studied medicine in University College Dublin before qualifying as a doctor and training to become a general practitioner. He worked in a number of specialties while training including endocrinology where he gained experience with weight loss medication that was used at the time to treat diabetes.
After finishing his GP training he started working full time as a GP where he met many patients struggling to loss weight. Inspired to help these patients he started researching weight management and became certified by the international organization The Strategic Centre for Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE). Dr O’Farrell is actively involved in patient advocacy and is a committee member of the Association for the Study of Obesity on the Island of Ireland (ASOI). www.ASOI.info
He set up and ran a successful weight management clinic in the practice where he worked before starting his own clinic – The Medication Weight Loss Clinic.
